
North Midlands Area history began in 1962 when the larger Midlands area was divided into two, North and South, records show at the time of the 1st AGM there were 27 clubs with 3084 members. The Area now has 76 clubs including a Contemporary Floral Design Group, 2 Junior Clubs and a Teachers' Association, with just under 5,000 members in total.
2012 will be a special year for the Area, celebrating its Golden Anniversary.
The North Midlands is one of 21 Areas affiliated to the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies. The Association has approx 68,000 members within a network of over 1200 clubs based across the UK.

The Area’s many talented flower arrangers have proved their skills by taking part in Flower Festivals and Area and National Shows. They have successfully represented NAFAS at Chelsea and other RHS shows, being awarded numerous coveted Gold and Silver Gilt medals.
Clubs meet once a month either during the afternoon or evening. Members enjoy a variety of activities including flower arranging demonstrations, talks, flower festivals, garden visits and social events. Practical workshops are organised to encourage continuing development of flower arranging skills.
